Canada Technology Center Grand Opening Even though the official grand opening event was nearly 6 months away, G. Temple was already in action developing a PR plan to capitalize on the opportunity this created.
Members of the Canadian national and regional press, as well as the Canadian trade press were identified, and sent a save-the-date e-mail. This would be the first of several communications they would receive from us, both to keep this event on their radar screens and to deliver the important message on the impact of the new Technology Center on the region's current and future manufacturing economy.
Ultimately, about 20 members of the media attended the event, mostly representatives of the trade press. A local daily newspaper and a local television new crew covered it as well.
The day began with a press breakfast at the Waterloo Inn where media representatives heard presentations by Mazak top management. A spirited and informative exchange of questions and answers took place following the presentations.
The press was also given a press kit and a premium backpack tastefully embossed with the Mazak logo. Press releases were also provided to wire services for national coverage. Following the press breakfast, the journalists were invited to participate in the opening ceremonies at the Technology Center itself, and tour the facility.
The results: Numerous pick-ups in the trade press and newspapers, including this feature article in The Cambridge Record. News of this event was featured prominently in several key Canadian and American trade publications as well as their associated websites, including Canadian
Metalworking, Metalworking Production & Purchasing, Design News, Modern Machine Shop, American Machinist, Metalworking News, Tooling & Production, CIEN Magazine, CIM Magazine and AMT News. Other on-line news outlets picking up the story included PR Newswire, Earthtimes, PR-Inside, 570News, CNW Telbec and Yahoo Financial.
If you want this kind of publicity, it takes careful planning and execution. G. temple is always looking for ways to help build our clients brands.
